Carla

Owner & Chief Jam Maker

I’m Carla, the hands behind Hummingbird Heritage. My happiest moments have always been in the kitchen — a pot simmering on the stove, jars lined up on a towel, the house filled with the kind of warmth you can’t buy.

Most of what I know came from my mom. She taught me how to process jam and preserve food the way her mother taught her — patiently, simply, with a quiet confidence that comes from doing things by hand. She was also an avid hummingbird lover and collector, so those tiny birds have always reminded me of her. When I see one, I think of the heritage she passed down to me: the skills, the steadiness, and the belief that homemade things matter.

That blend of tradition and creativity is what guides me now. I love familiar, comforting flavors, but I can’t resist adding my own little twist. I enjoy designing packaging, planning my kitchen workflow, and making products that feel like they belong on a family table.

Hummingbird Heritage is my way of keeping those traditions alive — and one day, I hope to pass them on to my own grandkids, just the way they were passed to me. Rooted in where I come from, and excited for what I get to create next.
